Hi there, Mrs. C.! Grandmas bake the best cookies, wouldn't you say? Although my boys always complained that I made them eat homemade cookies when they were children, instead of buying Oreos etc. "like everybody else gets"!
I don't have a digital camera, so can't post a picture of Kaya, Felicity and me making these cookies, but they are so delicious that I just had to post the recipe. I even ate a couple, even though I'm gluten-intolerant - worth the small risk!
TEN-CUP COOKIES
1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup coconut
1 cup raisins
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup flour
1 cup nuts, chopped
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
Cream butter; add sugars, eggs, and rest of ingredients. Drop by spoonfuls on sprayed cookie sheets (or lined with parchment paper) and bake at 350 10 - 12 minutes. Makes 8 - 9 dozen.
My daughter-in-law is allergic to nuts and doesn't like coconut, so I substituted another cup of oatmeal for that, and for the cup of nuts I used an extra 1/2 cup each chocolate chips and raisins. She loved them!

Jeanie D.... I'll be your friend... yummy, yummy. I knew we had lots in common and these cookies sound GGGRRRREEEAAATTTT!
Confession time... before the granddaughters and before the AG Dolls... I was known as Mom C.. the cookie lady. I really do like to try new cookie recipes but never expected this turnout. Wow!
Please don't pull this thread ... I will try to learn how to organize the recipes and transfer them to one site..maybe a cookie link.
I can see where I'm going to have to walk a little bit faster and get back into shape so I can have a taste of the goodies. Just a wee bite. ^j^ Mrs. C.

Yay! I finally figured out how to put a picture in my post. **does a dance**
So, here is Molly decked in a makeshift apron (will try to finish it this weekend), handmade tank, and handmade skirt, displaying the card that has my Grandma's recipe for Peanut Butter Candy. I know that it is not cookies, but oh man, it is so good.

Here is a recipe for one of my favorite cookies.
Lemon Vanilla Melt-Aways
1 cup flour
1/2 cup ARGO Corn Starch
3/4 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla
In medium bowl combine flour, corn starch and powdered sugar;set aside. In large bowl with mixer at medium speed, bet butter until smooth. Add flour mixture, lemon and vanilla, beat until well blended. Dough should gather and form a ball. Add 1-2 tablespoons additional flour if needed. Refrigerate dough 15 minutes or until easy to handle. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Shape dough in 1 1/2- inch balls; elongate balls to form egg shape if desired. Place 1 1/2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheets; flatten slightly with floured fingers. Chill unbaked cookies 5 to 10 minutes prior to baking. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove; cool completely on wire racks.

Hi Mrs. C.,
Your recipe idea is wonderful! Please give me a few days though to choose one and get some pictures for an album...can we keep this thread going for a bit do you think?
It'll just take me some time to put everything together--I've got a great recipe in mind that my Mom, who is now a Grandma, always makes around the holidays. Chocolate is optional in it too so it should work for you :-)

Yes, I will keep bumping along. Several board members have offered to help set up a site for the pictures and recipes and since I don't know how or where to do this... I will string this thread along until one of them helps this old lady across the street... I mean internet.
